French Version |
La Confrérie : Les Amis du Tour has among it members former participants of the Tour Cyclotouriste organised by the federation (FFCT). It was decided to form an association in order to promote and ensure the continuation of the Tour Cyclo.
Date of creation: 13 May 1995
Objective: The confrérie is integral with the association, and the club is affiliated to the Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme. Regionally the club is a member of the Ligue de Bretagne – CODEP 29 (Finistère). The association is run by an elected commitee of nine members.
The role of a Confrérie : Confréries aim to bring together practicionners of the same activity or people who have a common objective. These regroupings are very important at national level for the continuation of the activities they engage in. They don’t substitute for clubs, but they compliment each other by being part of a club within a federation. This role contributes largely to maintaining the spirit and friendship during the organised gatherings or informal meetings.
Our membership: 595 former participants of the Tour Cyclotouriste are members of the confrérie. They represent (including the multiple participation’s) 1061 riders out of a total of 1458 having taken part in the Tours from 1992 to 2006.
Our activities: We participate actively in many events, both national and regional: the Semaine Fédérale (where we have a stand), Pâques en Provence , Pentecôte and the Semaine Internationale. For our members we organise voyages, holidays and training weeksin preparation of the Tour Cyclo.
However, our principal activity is to mobilise our members to provide assistance to the organising commitee of the Tour. Nowadays the majority of the étapes are organised by former participants who are currently members of the organisation commitee. The association organises all along the passage of the Tour spontaneous points of refreshments, providing drinks (both hot and cold) and food suppliments. These halts provide an ideal meeting point for both new and old participants.
Communication : As an essential element for the cohesion of the members, we publish an annual newsletter providing details our activities, both past and present. Additionaly two ‘Lettres aux Amis’ are distributated to members each year. Our Internet site provides all information relative to the confrérie. Jean-Claude Allonneau who is responsable for our site, is also the initiator (since 2004) and operator of the web site during the Tour Cyclo itself.
Current committee: The president: Jean Tison, vice president: Daniel Le Guern (also responsible for safety), the secretary: André Garnier, the tressurer: Hervé Pellan, and the other elected members: M. Marmoex, A Mondon, J C Allonneau, H Kauffmann and F Nesson.
