RULES
I) The B.P.R. is open
to all cyclists masculine and feminine having reached the legal age (18 years).
II) No pre-qualification is required, but
first time riders of this super- randonnée should be capable of at least a 250
km. brevet (Audax) if they choose the category CYCLOTOURIST and 400 km. or even
500 km. for the other two categories.
III) For the non- licensed riders and
members of the F.F.C.T. (equivalent to the CTC), a medical certificate of less
than 3 months old is obligatory.
IV) The machines must be equipped in accordance
with the French highway code (code de la route), and the (working) operation of
the fixed lighting will be checked at the start and during the ride by the event
commissaires. Inadequate or faulty lighting will entail elimination (provisionally
at least) of the participant.
V) Respect of the highway code.
The riders must adhere to the 'code de la route' like all other road users. We
remind them that where the code allows riders to ride side by side, they must
not take up more than half the width of the road.
VI) Controls
At the beginning a permanence of information will be held on Thursday June 24, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Operation at the start.
On the
25st. and 26st the collection of brevet cards and the control of the cycle lighting
will start at the same place approximately two and a half hours before the depart
of each category.
Officials will remain at the start for 30 minutes after the depart in case of any late arrivals.
The agreed establishments where riders will be able to obtain food and rest, will be indicated on the brevet card along with the hours of opening.
Others
than those noted, the voluntary controllers have no other obligations but the
participants may at their own discretion find alternative food and accommodation
within the same location.
Control during the event.
The brevet card must be presented at each control point by the holder whose identity may be verified if necessary.
In addition
to the secret controls, commissaires will be authorised to indicate infractions
of the rules to both participants and followers and to verify the brevet card
of the individuals concerned. The totality of the route must be effected by bicycle
and contravention will lead to exclusion from the event.
For
the 28 hr. riders, the event may be neutralised for 5 minutes at the first three
controls if deemed necessary.
Finish control
Situated
at BALLAINVILLIERS on the 27rd. June, this control will be open from 08.00 to
17.00 hours. (19.00 hours for those delayed - emergency telephone no. - to be
advised).
VII) Accompanying vehicles
These vehicles are permitted under certain
conditions : name of driver, make of vehicle and registration to be noted on entry
form. A distinctive sticker will be provided for the windscreen and rear window.
These vehicles will leave "La Promotion Sociale" one hour after the depart of the
associated riders category.
The followers can only provide assistance to their riders within 5 kilometres of the controls. The systematic following of riders is not allowed and will be sanctioned.
A careful vigilance will be maintained with regard to the following vehicles and sanctions will be taken when in breach of the regulations.
VIII)
COMMITMENT
The price of commitment is set at 75 € Breakfast, Food and Martizay in Romorantin, meals on arrival, drinks, t-shirt and trophies included. Use the ballot provided therefor, or a photocopy thereof.
